Beyond the marble monuments, planners have a plethora of memorable venues to choose from.

Here are 5 unique event venues you won’t want to miss:

The United States Institute of Peace

Visitors to the nation’s capital immediately notice this dramatic new building, commanding attention at the entrance to Washington, D.C. right near the Kennedy Center on Constitution Avenue. Soaring white metal and glass architecture reflects the institute’s purpose to celebrate and promote the peaceful resolution of conflict. The roof terrace overlooks the Potomac and the National Mall, and inside, the Great Hall provides an ideal setting for receptions, banquets, and conferences. Groups of up to 700 will enjoy this beautiful, contemporary, and inspiring setting.

The Rooftop at Embassy Row Hotel

Historic hotels abound in Downtown D.C., but many have an old, stuffy feel that does nothing to enhance a corporate gathering. The Embassy Row Hotel recently added a chic event venue called The Rooftop at Dupont Circle. Centered around a sparkling blue pool, guests can chill at the bar, on chaise chairs and cabanas with plush seating, and the covered lounge. The Renwick Gallery

This iconic DC building, the first in America built for displaying great works of art, reopens in November 2015 after an extensive two-year renovation. Often called The American Louvre, this inspiring space offers dramatic event spaces to elevate your gathering. The second-floor gallery has been restored to its former glory, complete with the original vaulted ceiling. LED lighting and state-of-the art digital sound systems modernize the event space for planners.  The Renwick’s reputation for refined elegance in the heart of the city makes this a much-anticipated re-opening for fall 2015!

Trapeze School at The Navy Yard

Corporate team-building events become once-in-a-lifetime adventures when people come together at Trapeze School New York in Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yards. Teams deepen camaraderie while rotating through challenge stations to learn the art of trapeze.

Activities include trampoline, sword-play, juggling, aerial silks, hula hoops, stilt-walking, and even soaring on the flying trapeze!  Groups of up to 100 can participate in a grand finale show alongside professional performers- imagine the oohs and aahs as team members watch their CEO soar and flip through the air!  Catering and professional videography are available, making this a one-stop shop for the most exhilarating team-building day ever!

The Italian Embassy

There’s nothing like the glamour of Italy’s La Dolce Vita, and there’s a heavenly little slice of Italy right here in D.C. at our nation’s Italian Embassy. It’s a little-known fact that embassies do open their doors for private or corporate events, and such things must usually be arranged by an insider with the proper connections, like a destination management company.

Danielle Kambic, General Manager of Hello! Destination Management says, “There’s a certain cachet that comes with an embassy hosted event, and the exclusivity also comes with special requirements. For example, media presence may be limited, security will be tight, and it is also often required that the events foster appreciation of the native culture or benefit charity.” But if you’re looking for an authentic cultural experience that guests will remember forever, the gorgeous Italian Embassy is an ideal choice.

Hosting a conference or annual meeting in Washington, D.C. is a wonderful way to bring people together in a place with a plethora of exciting things to do. Check out one of these unique venues for your next corporate meeting, and you’ll wow your guests for sure!
